Meta has officially launched a new lineup of smart glasses, simply called Meta Glasses, starting at $299. Unlike previous Ray-Ban or Oakley-branded collaborations, these are the first to carry Meta’s own branding, made in partnership with EssilorLuxottica.
The glasses come in three frame styles: the rectangular Meta Adventurer in standard and large sizes, the boxier Meta Fury, and a sleek oval frame called Meta Glasses by Kylie, designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner. They’re available in multiple countries starting today in various color and lens combinations.
While the Meta Glasses don’t have a display, they pack a camera, speaker system, and a dedicated button that triggers the Meta AI assistant by default. Users can also customize the button to launch specific features. Meta claims the glasses deliver over eight hours of battery life, with the charging case providing up to 40 additional hours.
The Meta AI assistant can answer questions about sports scores and local restaurants, identify objects you’re looking at, and help manage daily tasks. Upcoming features include pedestrian navigation with turn-by-turn walking directions, plus support for 14 new languages for live translation, including Japanese, Mandarin, Hindi, and Korean.
The launch comes just a week after Snap debuted its long-awaited Specs AR glasses at a hefty $2,195 price point, positioning Meta’s $299 offering as a much more accessible entry into the smart glasses market. According to Counterpoint Research, Meta and EssilorLuxottica together control more than 80 percent of the smart glasses market.
