Revolut founder eyes bigger stake if fintech hits $500B

Nik Storonsky, who co-founded Revolut and runs it as CEO, could see his ownership grow under a new agreement tied to a roughly $500 billion valuation. The Financial Times, citing people familiar with the talks, reported the arrangement is under negotiation.

It follows a prior pact that topped up his stake once Revolut crossed $150 billion. He has said his holding stands at 29% and would climb 10 points at the $200 billion mark.

Reports last month pegged Revolut’s valuation at $115 billion in its most recent employee secondary share sale, meaning a $500 billion target would represent a more than fourfold jump. The company is currently aiming for a $200 billion valuation ahead of a potential 2028 IPO, and a new share deal tied to a far higher bar would align Storonsky’s ownership with a much larger long-term ambition.

The talks are at an early stage, and the structure of the deal has not been finalized. Revolut declined to comment.

The potential payout underscores how much of the superapp’s value is concentrated in its founder, who built Revolut into a global payments and banking challenger with more than 50 million customers. It also signals that management sees the current $115 billion mark as a floor, with the company pointing toward the $500 billion club currently occupied by the world’s largest technology firms.
