Few neoclouds borrow as aggressively as Lambda, which has now added $1B in private, short-dated debt to its chip-buying war chest.

JP Morgan Chase arranged the facility, Bloomberg reports, and the Nvidia chips it buys will be leased to Microsoft under an existing contract. The quick turnaround terms suggest Lambda expects to deploy the hardware and start generating revenue fast enough to retire the loan from incoming cash.

Debt has become Lambda’s go-to funding tool. Since May it has closed a $1B secured credit facility and, this week, a $926M loan tied to Nvidia GB300 GPUs that Lambda is under contract to deliver to Nvidia.

The new debt coincides with reports that Lambda is courting a $3B pre-IPO round. Its last equity raise, a $1.5B venture haul last November, valued the company at $5.43B post-money, per PitchBook.

Lambda has plenty of company in the lender line: banks and tech firms have raised more than $400B in AI-linked debt globally in 2026 so far, according to Bloomberg-compiled data, underlining how debt-dependent the AI buildout has become.
