Arkero, a Seattle-area startup that helps professional sports teams run their businesses with AI, has added one of English football’s oldest clubs to its client list. Bolton Wanderers, founded in 1874, is the latest team to use the company’s platform.

The startup’s software handles the operational side of sport: planning gamedays, driving ticket renewals, and coordinating staff across departments. Arkero says its tools give club executives a single view of business operations that are usually scattered across spreadsheets and legacy systems.

Bolton joins a roster that already spans Major League Soccer, the National Women’s Soccer League, and clubs across the English Football League. The company, founded by veterans of remittance firm Remitly, raised a $6M pre-seed round in January and signed a front-of-shirt deal with a Premier League team in May to raise its profile in England.

For lower-league clubs with thin commercial teams, AI tools that automate renewal campaigns and matchday planning are becoming an affordable way to compete with richer rivals. Arkero’s steady expansion suggests the market for sports business software is heating up as clubs hunt for revenue beyond matchday.
