Archer Aviation founder and chief executive Adam Goldstein tells Build Mode why raising $50M or $100M at a time could never fund an electric air taxi, so he took the company public with fewer than 100 employees on staff. Archer has since raised nearly $4B.

The company is developing eVTOL aircraft for commercial air taxis and defense work, and was selected as the exclusive air taxi provider for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Goldstein argues the window for earlier-stage companies to reach public markets may be opening again.
