Headline has closed a new €400M European fund, giving one of the continent’s most active early-stage investors fresh capital to reach AI founders before US rivals do.
The firm manages more than $5B and runs as one team across Berlin, Hamburg, Luxembourg, Paris, London, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, Taipei and Tokyo. It has invested in European founders for more than two decades.
Headline’s European portfolio maps the bloc’s AI ambitions. It backed Mistral weeks after the company was founded in 2023 and has joined every round since, including the $415M Series A that remains the largest raised in Europe. It also holds stakes in Black Forest Labs, Attio, Bioptimus and AMI Labs.
Mistral chief executive Arthur Mensch credits the firm with believing in the company’s ambition from day one and opening doors at the moments that mattered most.
Headline argues the case for the continent has strengthened rather than faded. Partner Christian Miele says the founders it meets now assume global scale from the first conversation and hire across borders from year one.
Cross-border guidance is part of the offer. Headline points to Farfetch, NGINX and Semrush as European names it walked through US entities, senior hires and eventual listings.
Partner Jon Userovici summed up the strategy by calling Europe the birthplace of the next generation of great AI companies, adding that Headline intends to be their first call.
