FieldAI is reportedly raising $700M in a round that could value the robotics software company at $10B, according to Business Insider.
The startup builds AI models that let robots operate in messy, unpredictable settings such as construction sites and industrial plants. It has reportedly signed a term sheet, a step short of a final deal.
If the figure holds, the valuation would be five times what FieldAI was worth last August. That jump reflects how quickly investor appetite has swung from chatbots toward machines that act in the physical world.
Robotics startups have drawn a wave of capital this year as models improve enough to control hardware without constant human oversight. FieldAI’s pitch is software that travels across robot designs, rather than being tied to one manufacturer.
The reported round would place the company among the most valuable private robotics firms. It also raises the stakes. Building general models for robots is expensive, and the field is crowded with well-funded rivals in the US, China and Europe.
The open question is commercial. A $10B tag assumes FieldAI converts pilot deployments into large, recurring contracts. Until that revenue shows up, the valuation rests on the promise of models that finally make robots useful outside a lab.
