Brellium, based in New York, has raised $23M to intercept medical billing errors before they escalate into repayment demands. The round drew investment from Left Lane Capital and First Round Capital as co-leads, joined by Digital Health Venture Partners in a supporting role.
The capital will be directed toward reaching more healthcare organizations and extending Brellium’s error-detection platform into additional medical specialties, two areas the company views as critical to expanding the scope and impact of its technology.
Documentation failures create financial exposure that is easy to underestimate. When a patient record omits a critical detail or a procedure code is applied incorrectly, the result can be a denied claim, a repayment order or a regulatory probe. Both government agencies and private insurers are tightening oversight, which means providers face rising scrutiny at a time when billing complexity continues to grow.
Brellium’s CortexLM system parses clinical notes, cross-references them against insurer and regulatory standards, and highlights likely errors alongside suggested fixes. Traditional audit practices examine only a subset of records; here every note undergoes review before billing takes place.
Brellium, which was founded in 2021, reports that its platform has now processed more than 22 million patient encounters and has helped shield nearly $2B in provider revenue from recapture actions and repayment demands.
