Stride, the preventative health company founded by Olympic medallist Andrew Steele, has raised GBP 46M to expand a membership built around DNA, blood and gut health testing.

Steele launched the business in May 2024 with a track record in elite sport and genetics, having co-founded DNAfit. Stride combines diagnostic testing with personalised guidance, aiming to move healthcare toward identifying risk before problems emerge rather than treating them afterwards.

The company is candid about the marketing problem. Steele argues preventative health can sound worthy and dull when it should be treated as one of the more transformative opportunities available, and that making it engaging matters as much as making it clinically sound.

Stride has secured Innovate UK funding for two research projects: a multiomic approach to measuring biological age, and an AI-powered health copilot that fuses laboratory results, wearable data and other inputs.

It is also moving into premium wellness, partnering with Triple Bond at The BoTree Hotel and LongLane, an alcohol-free biohacking destination, where its testing personalises members’ experiences.

The commercial case rests on pressure on public systems. If predictive testing catches risk earlier, the argument goes, it reduces the burden of preventable disease on services like the NHS.
