OMass Therapeutics has raised an oversubscribed €275M Series C, a substantial bet by blue-chip life science investors on small molecules that target proteins most drug developers have written off.

Who is payingWhat the money funds

The Oxford spin-out works on what it calls target ecosystems – the complexes of proteins that carry out cellular signalling. Many of those interfaces have historically been unassailable by conventional oral medicines, leaving large disease areas without small-molecule options.

Who is paying

Bain Capital Life Sciences, Forbion and Novo Holdings co-led the round. Janus Henderson Investors, SV Health Investors and Jefferson Life Sciences also joined, alongside existing backers of the company.

The size of the raise places OMass among the largest European biotech financings of the year, and it arrives while the sector’s funding environment remains selective about which clinical-stage platforms get scale capital.

What the money funds

The proceeds are earmarked for advancing the pipeline toward patients, deepening the discovery platform and building the clinical organisation needed to run later-stage trials.

OMass has not disclosed specific milestone timing or the lead indication’s trial schedule. The company’s argument is that better tooling for probing difficult binding sites translates into programs that competitors cannot simply copy.

Small-molecule developers have seen renewed investor interest this year as oral medicines look cheaper to manufacture than biologics and easier to distribute at scale.
