CivilGrid has raised $26M in Series A funding to expand its underground infrastructure mapping platform across the US.

The round’s anchor investor is Spark Capital, with Energy Impact Partners and a set of early-stage funds alongside.

The startup, founded by a former Pacific Gas and Electric engineer, is often described as building a “Google Maps for the underground.” Its platform pulls together underground utility, property, environmental and regulatory information into a single planning environment, so utilities and engineering crews know what lies beneath before they dig.

That data has become increasingly critical as AI data centers, grid upgrades and broadband rollouts multiply excavation work across the country.

Why the infrastructure-focused strategic investor matters: CivilGrid’s customers are utilities and engineering firms, where reputation weighs as heavily as the product.

The round is part of a broader wave of capital flowing to companies modernizing US critical infrastructure.
