Sensing-and-perception specialist Lyte, which outfits robots with the hardware to see the world, has closed a $165M Series C valuing it at $1.6B post-money. The round’s lead was Maverick Silicon, joined by Fidelity Management and Research, Atreides Management, Key1 Capital and Ora Global (the firm formerly called Exor Ventures).

The Sunnyvale company was founded in 2021 by Alexander Shpunt, Arman Hajati and Yuval Gerson, former Apple engineers whose earlier work helped bring 3D perception to the mainstream through PrimeSense and Kinect before Apple’s Face ID. After a $107M Series A and B, the company came out of stealth earlier this year with $272M raised in total.

The stack is a full-suite bet: silicon designed in-house, 4D sensing, RGB, motion awareness and the AI software layer, all built so a robot can locate itself and track what surrounds it. Its LyteVision platform synchronizes vision, high-resolution imaging and inertial sensors into one system, measuring motion natively rather than reconstructing it from cameras in software.

Early customers sit mainly in warehousing and manufacturing, where robots need precise, real-time geometry and motion data before any foundation model can act on it. Shpunt argues physical AI hits its sensing limits before its model limits, and that robots cannot act safely on data that does not faithfully describe the world.

The raise underscores a broader shift in robotics funding toward perception and sensor stacks as investors recognize that off-the-shelf cameras and laser trackers were never designed to work as one synchronized system.
