A single blood sample taken in the first trimester is the core of a new femtech bet out of Spain. iPremom, a Valencia-based diagnostics company, has closed a €15M seed round to push its pregnancy risk test through clinical validation and into clinics.
Amadeus Capital Partners led the round, with Asabys Partners and APEX Ventures participating, three investors with dedicated health and life sciences portfolios.
The company’s MaiRa platform reads circulating cell-free RNA signals in maternal blood and applies machine learning to spot early molecular anomalies linked to decidualization resistance in the uterine lining. The goal is to flag severe pregnancy complications before any clinical symptoms appear, giving clinicians a head start on preventative care.
iPremom says the models draw on more than 26,000 biological samples collected across 10,000 documented pregnancies. The funding will support large-scale clinical validation studies, expand availability of the testing service in Spain and speed regulatory filings with the FDA and European authorities, ahead of a global commercialization push.
Chief executive Alfonso Sanchez leads the company alongside chairman Carlos Simon, a professor in reproductive medicine, and chief scientific officer Tamara Garrido.
