Estonia’s Roleo collects €2.9M to hand job hunting to an AI agent

Job hunting is a project you start when something has already gone wrong. A Tallinn startup thinks it should run quietly in the background instead.

Roleo raised €2.9M in a round led by Lithuanian fund Practica Capital, with Inventure participating. Co-founder and chief executive Janer Gorohhov previously co-founded identity verification company Veriff, and co-founder Vahur Hansen was an early engineer at Wise.

What Roleo has built is offered at no charge: a personal agent that keeps watch on European tech hiring for whoever signs up. It learns each person’s experience, salary expectations and preferences around flexibility and seniority, then surfaces a shortlist instead of a feed. When something fits, Roleo can introduce the candidate straight to the hiring manager without an application form.

Scale so far is modest but concrete. Since the start of 2026 the agent has pointed users at 30,000 opportunities they went on to explore, screening hundreds of thousands of postings weekly and typically choosing three per user. People at Google, Amazon, Stripe and Spotify number among those using it.

Angels on the cap table include Bolt founder Markus Villig, alongside Sergei Anikin, Henrik Bohman and Kristina Lilleois.

The strategic question is whether an agent that represents candidates can also serve employers without becoming a lead-generation business in disguise. Roleo says users control their visibility and decide which opportunities to pursue, and the company frames employers as getting access to people who are open but not actively searching.

The money funds European expansion and a push past pure matching into longer-term career development, an acknowledgment that matching alone is a thin product to defend.

Recruiting is one of the categories AI agents have attacked hardest, and the winning shape is still unsettled. Roleo is betting the durable version sits on the candidate’s side of the table.
