Warp hands HR teams the keys to its payroll and compliance agents

Warp's new agent, launched in its 2.0 release, lets companies build HR workflows in plain English and run them without constant prompting.

Warp has handed its internal HR automation over to customers, launching an agent that manages onboarding, tax compliance, benefits administration and employee questions as part of Warp 2.0.

The product comes from Poaster Technologies, the company’s legal name. Behind the scenes it already ran agents on compliance and administrative work. What is new is the agent routine: companies write one in plain English, then fire it on a schedule or when an event occurs, such as an accepted job offer.

A single routine can order equipment, open new-hire accounts, enroll staff in benefits, set up payroll and file whatever registration a company needs to do business in a new state. Founder and chief executive Ayush Sharma says that replaces workflow builders which typically require technical staff or consultants, and that older systems falter when a process runs into an exception or missing information.

Because the agent touches payroll, compensation and employee data, Warp wrapped it in permission controls. Permission controls let administrators decide what data an agent sees, which of its actions need sign-off and which it can perform on its own. An audit trail captures the routine’s author, its approval date and the moment it last executed. Payments and other hard-to-reverse steps face tighter limits, and exceptions go to a human.

Preconfigured templates ship with the release, among them a Monday executive report on payroll, staffing and hiring trends. Warp’s own estimate puts the time high-growth companies spend managing a new hire over the first 30 days at 10 to 20 hours; its customers now report under two.
