Axiom Solutions International is the private cloud and power infrastructure business carved out of manufacturing services provider Flex, and it has landed $2B in fresh capital. Koch Equity and General Catalyst bought the Axiom shares from Flex, a transaction that put an initial enterprise value of $37.5B on the Austin company. Early next year, Flex intends to separate Axiom into an independent publicly traded company, which makes the $2B as much a pre-IPO placement as a venture deal.
Bundled cloud capacity and the electricity to run it, aimed at operators that cannot wait on a hyperscaler queue – that is the business, and it sits squarely in the AI buildout. It also explains why the money arrived at a scale almost no ordinary software round reaches.
Crunchbase’s weekly leaderboard put Axiom on top, ahead of TypeSafe’s $870M for its Jev model and Oratomic’s $475M quantum raise.
Why it matters: capital is flowing to whoever can supply megawatts and racks, not merely models. A business most people have never heard of took the week’s biggest check, and its strategy is industrial rather than software-shaped. Founders building around physical AI infrastructure should read that as the market saying where the scarce resource sits.
