Korean startup PYLER pitches video understanding to brands and broadcasters

The Seoul company reads scenes rather than keywords, and says its software screens about two million videos a day.

PYLER, a Seoul company building video-understanding models, is selling context rather than captions. Its Antares technology combines visuals, audio and dialogue to judge what a scene actually shows and whether it suits a given advertiser.

The distinction matters commercially. Object recognition can tell a brand that a car appeared in a clip. It cannot say whether the car was in a crash, a comedy sketch or a crime report. Brand safety budgets are spent on the second question.

PYLER’s applications include AiD for brand safety and AiM for suitability and contextual targeting, moving past keyword filtering toward an assessment of meaning across a video’s timeline.

Nvidia published a case study describing the system processing roughly two million videos daily and cutting unsafe content exposure by 76.7% for major advertisers. Those are company-reported numbers inside a partner document, not independently verified benchmarks.

The harder problem is live television. PYLER presented work with a FAST operator at Nvidia’s Inception Grand Challenge 2026 in Singapore, analysing connected TV broadcasts scene by scene to decide ad suitability in real time, where unexpected footage cannot be screened in advance.

The strategic bet is that Korean AI firms can compete by pairing models with domain knowledge rather than by scaling parameters. PYLER’s founders argue the advantage lies in making AI genuinely useful inside a specific industry.

The obstacle is cost discipline. Analysing every frame is prohibitively expensive, so accuracy per compute unit, not raw model size, decides who wins.
