Accounting firms lack hands more than they lack software. Kabilio, a Spanish startup, has raised 10M euros to put an AI agent inside the bookkeeping stack, with Picus Capital and Visionaries among the backers.

Spain handles small business finance through outsourced bookkeeping, as much of Europe does: companies hand tax and accounts to external accounting firms, which then drown in invoices, bank transactions and documents.

Reading, matching, chasing

The platform reads invoices, suggests accounting entries, matches bank transactions and prepares reconciliations, flagging the cases that need a professional eye. Kabilio says the tools cut reconciliation and bookkeeping time by roughly 60%.

The new agent goes further, retrieving invoices, validating entries and emailing or messaging clients for missing documents. Accountants assign work in plain language and set how much autonomy the agent gets, with several firms already piloting.

The real unlock is data

The company also launched Kabilio Empresas, where small businesses issue invoices, link bank accounts and track cash flow, passing every record to their accountant instantly. A secondary argument follows: whatever records an agent cannot reach, it cannot use.

That closes a loop few competitors own. The instant a client issues an invoice or a payment lands, the firm and its agent see it rather than waiting for a monthly export.

Traction is moving. Jose Ojeda and Alex Valls founded the company and now employ 80 people, over half in product and engineering, while nearly 500 accounting firms use the platform against 100 a year ago. Adlanter, Solfico and Gemap are customers.

The next phase pushes the agent toward the client side, issuing invoices, chasing overdue payments and answering routine tax questions, where the pricing leverage sits.
