Syntetica, a Paris-based clean technology startup, has raised $30 million in a Series A round led by Bpifrance’s Ecotechnologies fund, with strategic backing from athletic apparel giant Lululemon. The round also included MAS Holdings, SWEN Capital Partners, Indorama Ventures, and existing investor EQT Ventures.

The company has developed a patented chemical process capable of recycling both major types of nylon in a single step. Nylon-6 and nylon-6,6 have different chemical structures that have traditionally required separate recycling streams, making mixed nylon waste expensive to process.

Less than 1% of recyclable clothing globally is currently remade into textiles, according to a 2024 BCG analysis. Nylon is one of the most widely used synthetic materials, found in everything from toothbrushes to clothing to tents.

Syntetica is already working with brands including Victoria’s Secret and Etam. The company plans to build a commercial demonstration facility in France in partnership with Michelin.

Founded in 2023, Syntetica previously raised a EUR 4.2 million seed round in 2024.
