Indonesian brokerage Ajaib has raised $270M in a Series C led by Japan’s SBI Holdings, which picked up a 20% stake in the company for about ¥43B.

The deal is Indonesia’s largest tech funding round since 2022, according to Dealroom, and hands Ajaib fresh firepower in Southeast Asia’s booming retail investing market.

Ajaib, founded by Stanford graduates, runs a stock trading and investing app that has drawn millions of first-time investors in a country where retail participation has surged. The fresh capital is expected to expand its product lineup and fuel regional growth.

The investment also advances SBI’s broader Asian strategy, which the Japanese financial group has linked to stablecoin and digital asset ambitions in the region.

The round underscores renewed appetite among Japanese and global investors for Indonesian fintech after several quiet years.
