Comp AI has closed a $34 million Series A to push its compliance automation platform past the audit and into security work. The Miami company, incorporated as Bubba AI Inc., will spend much of it on monitoring that keeps running after a certification is signed off, plus hiring across product, engineering, sales and customer success.

Founded in January 2025 by Lewis Carhart, Claudio Fuentes and Mariano Fuentes, Comp AI builds software that inspects the systems and documents a customer already has and turns them, as organizational context, into policies and risk registers. The agents take on vendor security assessments, keep watch over controls, and handle onboarding and evidence collection. Its customer base runs past 1,000 companies, with Dub Technologies and OpenCode among them.

The core code is open source, and frameworks including SOC 2 and ISO 27001 are supported. Comp AI positions itself as a leaner, more transparent choice next to Vanta, valued at $4.15 billion last year, and Drata.

Roo Capital and Grand Ventures co-led the Series A, taking investor backing to $36.6 million once an earlier $2.6 million pre-seed is counted. Sentry co-founder David Cramer was among the pre-seed angels.

Chief executive Lewis Carhart sees agentic AI as the difference: the first generation of compliance software, he said, proved the process could be automated, and agents now let the work go much further. Comp AI puts annual recurring revenue at 15 times the level of a year ago.

Real-time monitoring and control validation come next, along with agents that run security tests against customer applications and infrastructure – a step the company frames as leaving audit readiness behind for cybersecurity. Chief operating officer Claudio Fuentes argues compliance has only ever been an approximation of security, because the work underneath it was manual and tied to a fixed schedule.
