Hubble Network raises $200M to put Bluetooth in orbit

Smith Point Capital led the round for a network that lets standard Bluetooth chips talk to satellites.

Hubble Network has raised $200M in Series C funding at a $1.6B valuation, bringing its total to $300M.

Backing came from Smith Point Capital in the lead seat, plus Seraphim, Carthona Capital, Earthshot Ventures, Y Combinator and RPM Ventures.

The Seattle company runs a satellite network that lets ordinary Bluetooth Low Energy chips send location and sensor data to orbit without a dedicated satellite modem or extra hardware. On the customer side sit the software SDKs and firmware integrations; what Hubble operates is the constellation in low Earth orbit plus the gateway infrastructure on the ground.

That approach targets asset tracking and industrial sensing, where cellular coverage is patchy and satellite terminals have historically been too costly and too power-hungry for small devices. Hubble, led by chief executive Alex Haro, says its stack works with Bluetooth parts already shipping in enormous volumes, cutting the cost of connecting a sensor to space.

The raise follows a year of heavy investment in direct-to-device connectivity, as satellite operators and startups race to reach cheap hardware rather than premium handsets. Hubble says the new capital goes toward expanding operations and development.
