Reykjavik’s 50skills has raised €5.3M ($6M) to push its people-workflow platform into more markets, with hiring planned across sales, marketing and community.

The round was co-led by Frumtak Ventures, Swiss Post Ventures and Avant. The company describes itself as an operating system for people workflows rather than another tool in the HR stack.

The product’s bet is agentic. Instead of bolting a chatbot onto an applicant tracking system, 50skills runs agents that execute the work behind hiring and internal mobility – and, per the company, agents that build further agents as a customer’s processes change.

That framing matters commercially. HR software is crowded and switching costs are high, so newcomers rarely win on features. They win by removing headcount. A recruitment team of three able to carry the workload of eight is a clearer pitch than a better dashboard.

Iceland is an unusual launchpad. The market is small, wages are high and labour is scarce, which makes automation easier to sell at home but caps growth quickly. Expansion therefore has to run through the Nordics and continental Europe, where Swiss Post Ventures carries obvious strategic value.

European HR tech has attracted steady funding through 2026 as buyers moved from experimentation to procurement. The question for 50skills is whether agentic workflows translate across languages, union rules and local employment law – the friction that has kept this category fragmented.
