Credit work runs on paperwork that no machine reads easily: filings, financial statements, investor decks and material handed over behind closed doors. Cognitive Credit’s business is converting that sprawl into structured numbers. Summit Partners has just committed $40 million to the effort, a strategic growth round led by the Boston firm with ETFS Capital, already a holder, putting in more.

Why the market is big

More than $60 trillion of corporate bonds and syndicated loans now sit outstanding, the OECD estimates in its Global Debt Report 2026, and roughly $14 trillion of that was raised last year. Every new borrower adds documents to sift, and buy-side teams want accuracy and an audit trail, not a chatbot’s summary.

What the company sells is a research environment that fuses checked financials, analytics and generative AI. Coverage spans more than 3,500 issuers of bonds and loans in the US, Europe and emerging markets, assembled by trawling hundreds of thousands of reports. Analysts can pull full credit models and the original filing, and follow any AI-written output back to its source. The data also reaches clients as an Excel add-in, a REST API or a native Claude connector, so desks need not abandon existing tools.

Clients and what comes next

Its customers, per the company, include over 80 percent of the 25 biggest asset managers worldwide and all 10 top investment banks on global debt league tables. Active users climbed 240 percent across three years while issuer coverage more than doubled. DealConnect, due soon, opens credit models for private issuers that release financials through secure data rooms; agentic analysis tools are being built. Chris Bon, a Summit partner, takes a board seat. CEO Robert Slater said momentum so far validates the bet on structured data, specialist AI and workflow automation.
