Stability AI has collected $76M in a Series B round backed by an unusual lineup: the music industry and a gaming giant that once sued AI companies over training data.
Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, Warner Music Group and Electronic Arts all took part, alongside AMD Ventures and Pacific Alliance Ventures. The round lifts Stability’s total funding to $232M.
CEO Prem Akkaraju, who joined the company in 2024, called the raise “an affirmation of our vision where generative AI empowers every producer, musician and storyteller.” The company plans to keep building its Stable Diffusion image models and related generative media tools, deepening the licensing and distribution partnerships the entertainment names depend on.
The investor roster marks a thaw between the music business and AI. Record labels spent much of 2025 battling AI firms in court over copyrighted recordings, only to pivot toward deals and equity stakes as streaming economics tightened.
For Stability, the round is a lifeline after a turbulent stretch that included leadership churn and rising competition from newer image models. Backing from content owners also gives the company something most rivals lack: a seat at the table when the industry decides how AI-generated music and video get licensed.
