Infineon is acquiring C2i Semiconductors, a Bengaluru-based startup that designs software-defined power delivery chips for AI data centers. Financial terms were not disclosed.
C2i specializes in intelligent digital power management: multiphase controllers, smart power stages and system-level architectures such as vertical power delivery and substrate integrated voltage regulators. The technology complements Infineon’s existing silicon, silicon carbide and gallium nitride portfolio at a moment when increasingly powerful AI processors create fast, dynamic shifts in power demand that systems must answer in real time.
Adam White, president of Infineon’s Power Systems division, said the deal accelerates innovation in power delivery for AI data centers, citing C2i’s engineering team. C2i founder and CEO Ram Anant said the two companies can speed the development of software-defined power architectures and take them to customers worldwide.
The acquisition also deepens Infineon’s footprint in India, where it employs roughly 2,800 people and treats the country as a strategic innovation hub within its global R&D network. The move echoes a broader trend of chipmakers pulling power-management expertise in-house as AI infrastructure becomes one of the industry’s largest growth markets.
