Canva rolls out AI website builder to all users with Code 2.0 update

The design giant is betting that the real bottleneck in vibe coding is making output look good, not writing the code.

Canva has launched Canva Code 2.0, a major upgrade to its AI-powered coding tool that lets users build interactive websites and apps using plain-language prompts. The feature is now available across all pricing tiers, including free accounts, reaching more than 265 million monthly users.

Where rivals like Lovable, Replit, and Bolt.new focus on generating functional code from text prompts, Canva is betting that the real bottleneck is making the output look professional. The new version lets users drag and drop images, update colors and fonts through a familiar toolbar, and edit generated elements directly on the canvas without touching code.

Canva has reduced average code generation time by 75 percent and added over 50 new interactive templates. Perhaps most strategically, Code 2.0 can import raw HTML files from any AI coding tool and convert them into editable Canva designs, positioning the platform as a “finishing layer” for the entire vibe coding ecosystem.

According to market research, the AI app builder market has reached $4.7 billion in 2026 and is projected to hit $12.3 billion by 2027.
