Prague-based EquiLibre Technologies has raised a Series A round at a valuation exceeding $500 million, led by Creandum in what the VC firm said was its largest-ever investment in a single round.

The company was founded by Martin Schmid, Matej Moravcik, and Rudolf Kadlec, who previously developed DeepStack, an AI that mastered Texas Hold ’em poker. The trio carried over key technologies from DeepStack to financial trading, particularly a training method called self-play that enables AI to learn by playing millions of matches against itself.

EquiLibre launched its trading agents in 2025 initially focused on cryptocurrencies before expanding to traditional stock markets including the Nasdaq. The company says its agents complete billions of dollars worth of trades per month and have not yet closed a month with a loss. The investor roster also includes Turing Prize laureate Richard Sutton, a pioneer of reinforcement learning.

The company will use most of the proceeds to grow its computing cluster, which it expects to boost profitability, and to hire more deep learning researchers and engineers.
