AI security is becoming its own category of enterprise spending, and Mindgard is cashing in.

The Lancaster University spinout announced a $30M Series A led by Album VC, with Karma Ventures, .406 Ventures, Atlantic Bridge, IQ Capital and Lakestar also in the round.

Mindgard turns a decade of academic research into attack testing for AI models, apps and agents. The company, founded in 2022 and now headquartered in both Boston and London, says it has publicly logged more than 150 high-impact vulnerabilities found in widely used AI applications.

Its approach pairs offensive security know-how with automated probing. “We don’t just automate attacks. We operationalize expertise,” CEO James Brear said, arguing organizations need a different playbook for a wholly new attack surface.

Demand is being driven by the agent wave: as enterprises hand AI systems more autonomy, the number of attackable surfaces multiplies. The fresh capital will scale Mindgard’s product to meet it.
