Hotel front desks are the target of Dextr AI’s first outside money: $6.7M in seed funding that the San Francisco company will use to widen an agent platform across properties of every size.
Elevation Capital led the round, with Foundation Capital joining in what is the startup’s first institutional check. Sajid Shariff and Scott Arnold founded the business in July 2025. Shariff had come back to the Bay Area in 2024 and found operators still wrestling with labor costs and holes in their schedules.
Alfred came first, a guest-facing agent that fielded questions and ran check-ins at a couple of properties; Shariff says reviews improved within 90 days. Then came Daisy, a voice agent for reservations. Shariff noticed the calls it answered turning into bookings, and says one large property now writes $100,000 to $300,000 a month through it.
Agents for group bookings and staff management followed, wired together so that a signal picked up in one leads to action in another. A guest who turns down housekeeping could trigger a scheduling change in an operations agent, and a late arrival could be verified and let in without paying for an overnight desk shift that Shariff puts at $70,000 to $80,000 a year in California.
Dextr says the network handles more than a million interactions a month across hundreds of hotels, running from 21-room independents up to 550-room properties carrying the Hilton, Wyndham, Best Western and IHG brands. It plugs into Oracle Hospitality, OPERA Cloud and Cloudbeds.
