Montpellier-based Lupin Dental has closed a €15M Series A led by Fynveur, which put in €10M, with participation from existing shareholders and private investors. A Bpifrance loan rounds out the financing.

At the heart of the company is a supervised robotic platform for preparing teeth before veneer procedures. Its software maps out the patient’s target smile and builds a treatment plan, which a robotic workstation then carries out with minimal invasion.

Founded in 2019 by Dr. Galip Gürel and Dr. Stefen Koubi, Lupin secured UKCA certification for the system in June, authorizing commercial use in Great Britain after earlier clearance in India. The system is not yet approved for clinical use in the US or EU.

Invus, Fynveur’s advisor, joins the board. The company has also added Michel Mayer, former Freescale Semiconductor chairman, as board chair, and Biotech Dental founder Philippe Veran as a director.

The startup now wants to push its system into clinics through partnerships with dentists and Dental Service Organizations, betting that supervised automation can win over a cautious profession.
