A German legal publisher is taking control of Noxtua, the Berlin legal AI scale-up, as part of a Series C worth more than €100M.

C.H.BECK, which first backed Noxtua in 2025 and already builds a joint workspace with it, becomes the majority shareholder. MANZ joins as a new investor. Global Brain, KDDI Open Innovation Fund, CMS, Dentons and IOTA Foundation founder Dominik Schiener exit, a reshuffle that ties the startup closer to European legal publishers.

Founded in Berlin in 2017 and spun out of research at Oxford and Imperial College London, Noxtua launched commercially in 2024 and now counts more than 30,000 users and around 100 employees across Berlin, Paris, Stockholm, Zagreb, Munich and Freiburg. Its jurisdiction-specific workspaces draw on curated data from publishing partners rather than the open web, and every answer carries citations users can trace.

Chief executive Leif-Nissen Lundbaek says revenue has quintupled in four months and that the tie-up lets the company sidestep the short-term venture race in favour of high-quality legal databases. It runs models on European infrastructure built with Deutsche Telekom, which helps it sell to courts.

He frames the competitive threat as coming from two directions: global platforms such as Harvey and Legora above, and general-purpose model providers moving into legal work below.
