Andreas Flodstrom built the Swedish-Ukrainian tech ecosystem Beetroot before turning investor, and now chairs Varangians, a defense tech fund backing technology developed and tested under frontline conditions.
The fund has raised more than €10M and holds stakes in Norda Dynamics, Himera and Sine Engineering, which work across autonomous UAV systems and secure communications for contested environments.
In this conversation he weighs the line between defense and dual-use investing, and asks whether Europe is moving fast enough to absorb what Ukraine has learned about drones and electronic warfare.
