Workforce screening startup Yardstik has raised $30M in a Series B led by Harbert Growth Partners, with participation from Rally Ventures, MissionOG, Crosslink Capital, Grotech Ventures and Great North Ventures. Total funding now stands at $65M.

The company’s Human Trust Platform pairs background screening with identity verification, fraud detection and continuous monitoring, watching employees long after the pre-hire check. Yardstik says one in 30 job applicants fails a government identity verification, and its platform flags roughly 2,900 incidents a year of applicants using flagged or duplicate Social Security numbers.

Founder and CEO Andrew Johnson argues the legacy background check industry is built around a single moment in time even though workforce risk changes daily. A motor vehicle record or professional license can lapse the day after hiring, and employers should know that day, he says.

Revenue grew 149% over the past year with 98% customer retention. Clients include gig economy firms TaskRabbit, Gopuff and Liveops. The new capital will fund detection of expiring licenses and insurance policies, plus exclusion monitoring for individuals barred from federally funded healthcare programs.
