Fresh money is heading to orbit. A pre-Series A of roughly $10.5M, about Rs 100 crore, is heading to India’s InspeCity, with Speciale Invest and Ashish Kacholia steering the round.
Others in the round include Shastra VC, Antler Elevate, Antler India and angel investor Manish Gandhi. Flight qualification, commercial rollout and scaling of the in-space servicing systems are the stated uses for the cash.
Four in-orbit missions are planned over the next 12 to 18 months under the RIG-X, VEDA-X and SAMA-X roadmap. In stages, the missions will exercise refuelling, docking, robotics, autonomous operations, sensing and propulsion. It will also expand commercial deployment of its GITA propulsion systems.
Founded in 2022 by alumni of IIT Bombay, the company builds vertically integrated technology for in-space mobility, inspection, satellite life-extension and servicing. It is part of a small but growing group of startups targeting the market for keeping aging satellites alive, a niche global agencies increasingly see as critical as low-Earth orbit fills up.
