Madrid invoice startup Causa Prima collects $20M four months after pre-seed

Base10 Partners led the round for AI agents that settle disputes between companies, not inside them.

The mess between two companies, rather than inside one, is what Causa Prima is after. Finance software usually tidies a single firm’s books.

Base10 Partners led a $20 million seed round for the startup, joined by QED Investors and FJ Labs as new investors, while existing backers Creandum, Kfund, and Borusan Ventures contributed more. Total funding now stands at $30 million, reached under four months after a $10 million pre-seed. Offices in Madrid and Munich anchor the 2026-founded company, which did not reveal its valuation.

Disputes, not ledgers, are the drag, the argument goes. Payment stalls for weeks while a supplier chases what it is owed, a buyer contests a bill, and an email chain grinds on, leaving working capital tied up on both sides. AI agents placed on each side by Causa Prima settle that dispute directly, and early-payment discounts are the prize on offer.

According to management, corporate finance’s largest inefficiency has shifted outside the enterprise, into the space between companies, and the next layer of financial infrastructure will be constructed there.

Two raises in a single quarter is a notable endorsement of a company this new, yet with no disclosed valuation the raise’s capital efficiency stays a mystery.
