Moss has become Germany’s newest unicorn after closing a €30 million Series C at a valuation above €1 billion, the Berlin-based spend management startup announced this week.

Portage led the round, with existing investor Cherry Ventures participating. The company was founded in 2019 by Ante Spittler, Anton Rummel, Ferdinand Meyer and Stephan Haslebacher.

Moss provides an all-in-one spend management platform for European SMEs, combining corporate cards, invoice management and reimbursements with real-time budgets, smart approvals and automated accounting. It integrates with ERP systems like DATEV, Xero and Exact Online, and HRIS platforms such as Personio, BambooHR and HiBob.

CEO Spittler says the fresh capital will push the company beyond spend management and expand its Finance AI product suite. Soon, customers will be able to configure AI agents for every finance job while keeping control over each step, a shift the company frames as finance AI shaped by the user.

The round is the latest sign that European fintech is finding its footing again after a lean period, and that AI is becoming the differentiator in the competitive corporate spending market. Moss now joins a growing list of German fintech unicorns built around automating back-office finance work.
