Clastix has raised €2.9M in a seed round led by CDP Venture Capital, with Mistral and Vertis SGR joining through its Vertis Venture 6 Digital Sud fund. It is the Naples company’s first external financing.
Founded in 2020 by Adriano Pezzuto and Dario Tranchitella, engineers who had run Kubernetes deployments inside large enterprises, Clastix started with Capsule, an open-source project that added multi-tenancy to Kubernetes, then built Kamaji to run tenant control planes as pods on shared hardware instead of dedicated machines.
Both now feed kMetal, its commercial platform for fleet-scale operations, running in production with infrastructure teams at AI labs, telecom operators, cloud providers and public bodies. Customers include Fastweb, Nvidia and Mistral itself.
“Clastix is the backbone of our Kubernetes infrastructure,” Mistral co-founder and chief technology officer Timothée Lacroix said, calling the backing an investment in Europe’s AI stack rather than just its models.
The company positions itself as an alternative to hyperscaler-dependent infrastructure, keeping AI workloads on hardware and data the customer controls. The capital goes to product, solutions engineering, customer success and go-to-market, with Kamaji staying free under Apache 2.0.
