Citation Capital has closed its first private equity fund with $1.2 billion in investable capital, marking one of the largest first-time buyout funds in the past decade and the largest female-founded buyout fund ever launched.
The Dallas firm said Citation Fund I reached its $1.1 billion hard cap for outside commitments. Including co-investment vehicles, Citation now manages approximately $2.1 billion in assets.
A tough fundraising market
Founded in 2023 by Tiffany K. Hagge and Lydie B. Hudson, Citation focuses on controlling stakes in middle-market businesses across services, industrial, and selected consumer sectors. The firm targets founder-led and family-owned companies.
The investor base includes pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, and family offices. Citation has deployed capital into four companies.
Closing a debut fund above $1 billion is increasingly rare as institutional investors become more selective. The oversubscribed fund signals strong confidence in Citation leadership.
