Bulgaria brought its first coordinated startup delegation to the Startup Grind Conference 2026 in Silicon Valley this May, marking a significant step in the country’s efforts to connect its entrepreneurial ecosystem with global technology networks.

Organized through a partnership between the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (BSMEPA), Future Unicorns Accelerator, and The Recursive, the initiative marked the first coordinated Bulgarian presence at one of the world’s largest gatherings focused on entrepreneurship, technology, and venture capital.

Held annually in Redwood City, California, Startup Grind brings together thousands of founders, investors, operators, and technology leaders from around the world. Delegates participated in networking events, workshops, and discussions focused on the realities of building globally competitive companies. The program offered Bulgarian founders an opportunity to test assumptions, gather feedback, and better understand how their companies are perceived outside their home market.

According to Konstantin Kunev, CEO of Future Unicorns Accelerator, the Silicon Valley immersion is designed to give founders direct exposure to the people, conversations, and environments that shape the global technology industry. “Having the opportunity to participate in Startup Grind during that experience significantly increased the value founders were able to extract from the program,” he said.

The visit comes as many European startups are rethinking how early they should begin building international relationships. Founders are discovering that successful expansion often begins long before a company formally enters a new geography, and events like Startup Grind provide critical access to the networks where partnerships and investment opportunities are formed.
