Hadrian has closed a $1.37 billion Series D at a $7.87 billion valuation, roughly quadrupling its worth since January as investors bet big on rebuilding America’s defense manufacturing base.

The round was co-led by WCM Investment Management, Washington Harbour Partners, Valor Equity Partners, 137 Ventures and Baillie Gifford, with JPMorgan Chase’s Strategic Investment Group anchoring as lead co-investor. Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, Lux Capital and others joined.

CEO Chris Power says the capital will scale the startup’s workforce and its Opus software platform, which runs the automated factories Hadrian builds for aerospace, defense and industrial clients. Opus is already in use by the U.S. Army and Navy, with more prime contractors expected.

The deal lands amid a broader surge in defense-tech funding. Anduril raised $2.5 billion at a $30.5 billion valuation before climbing above $60 billion, Shield AI hit $12.7 billion in March and Saronic reached $9.25 billion. The Trump administration’s push for $1.5 trillion in defense spending adds pressure on an industrial base struggling to produce submarines, munitions and drones fast enough.

Hadrian’s jump from roughly $1.8 billion in January to $7.87 billion shows investors now see factory capacity itself as strategic technology. Rather than designing another weapons platform, the company is betting on the manufacturing infrastructure behind all of them, a wager that every new drone, ship or aircraft will still need somewhere to be built.
